James Gordon set to build on community track record with ‘listening campaign’.

Andrea Horwath joined local New Democrats at the Guelph Youth Music Centre on Monday night to select James Gordon as their candidate for the upcoming provincial election this October 6th.

“We know that we’re on the verge of change in Ontario.” Horwath said, “That change starts today in Guelph with the nomination of James Gordon.”

Gordon, a community leader, artist and entrepreneur was the only candidate running for the nomination, after Susan Wheeler dropped out this May. Gordon focused on building a campaign that listens to the community, and acts on their priorities.

“I don’t know how we’ve lost touch with our leaders over the last generation, but our political system has become top-down. I want to reshape what it means to be an MPP. I think we should have an MPP that listens.”

Gordon surprised many in attendance by turning the mic over to the audience to hear their priorities. “James knows more about where I’m coming from than Liz Sandals or any of the [Ontario Liberals]” said one guest who had approached Gordon about healthcare matters.

The energetic crowd was quick to offer their applause, and even quicker to get involved. The nomination event raised over $10,000 in donations.
